Our story

About

A small Southbridge maker focused on local wood, careful processing and useful drawing tools.

Local wood. Hand work.

Southbridge Artist Charcoal was created around a simple idea: good drawing charcoal can begin with wood growing close to home.

We harvest suitable wood by hand, sort it by species and size, dry it, and carbonize it in controlled small batches. That lets us offer artists charcoal with different hardness, texture and handling characteristics while keeping each batch traceable to the wood it came from.

Our regular woods include willow, black oak and crabapple. Other locally available species may appear as limited batches.
